Since 2019, the Salazar Center’s International Symposium on Conservation Impact has convened emerging and established leaders from diverse backgrounds to explore bold and innovative approaches to North American conservation. The Symposium fosters stimulating conversations among thinkers and doers who shape our landscapes and communities, bridging divides—transboundary, rural-urban, climate-biodiversity—and surfacing connections often overlooked elsewhere.

Why do we do this? We believe that convening conservation disruptors, funders, advocates, and policymakers strengthens a vibrant and far-reaching community of practice. We’re facilitating knowledge exchange and building a web of experts to address the continent’s most urgent nature and climate challenges.

What to expect:

  • Curated sessions, keynotes, and breakout discussions
  • Solution-oriented dialogue, cross-sector networking, and resource sharing
  • Intentional time for spontaneous conversation and cultivating relationships that extend beyond the event

Coming soon!

The seventh International Symposium will take place in Spring 2027 in Merida, Yucatán, Mexico. If you are interested in supporting the Symposium as a sponsor or partner, please reach out to Jen Kovecses, Assistant Director of Programs.
