The plan to turn half the world into a reserve for nature
Scientists and conservationists are proposing that up to half of Earth’s land and oceans be protected for nature. Once thought of as aspirational, many - including the Salazar Center - are now taking these ideas seriously, not only as a firewall to protect biodiversity, but also to mitigate continued climate warming.
Rocky Mountain animals will move as the climate warms. These corridors could give them an easier path.
We can’t predict exactly what the impacts of climate change are going to be, or what species are going to be impacted, but there's a fundamental truth here that is also the foundation of everything the Salazar Center does: that if we can keep this landscape connected, these species will be better off.
In partnership with the Salazar Center, Provost to award $10,000 Conservation Impact Prize to CSU faculty or research staff
Nominations are open for a new prize that will recognize an outstanding CSU faculty or staff member whose work demonstrates substantial impact in the field of conservation.
